Welcome to CTfastrak

CTfastrak is Connecticut’s first bus rapid transit (BRT) system, launched on March 28, 2015. Designed to deliver a faster and more reliable travel experience, CTfastrak buses operate on a 9.1-mile dedicated, bus-only guideway for all or part of their route.

Today, the network includes:

  • 10 stations
  • 8 local routes
  • 2 express routes

Together, they serve 13 communities across central Connecticut. CTfastrak is the number one-ranked Bus Rapid Transit system in the nation, according to the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy.

Proof of Payment 

CTfastrak uses a Proof of Payment system, allowing for boarding through any door. By paying your fare before boarding, you help ensure faster service and shorter wait times at stations.

Operational Details

How It Works

Buy tickets before boarding via smartphone, online, or at CTfastrak Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs)

Other CTfastrak routes

  • Use a portion of the guideway before branching off to additional destinations, or
  • Act as feeder routes, connecting to the guideway at designated stations

CTfastrak Service Runs 7 Days a Week, 365 Days aYear

  • Weekdays: 4:00 a.m. – 1:30 a.m
  • Saturdays: 4:45 a.m. – 1:30 a.m
  • Sundays: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m

CTfastrak connects seamlessly with CTtransit local and express routes, and links to the CTrail Hartford Line at Hartford Union Station 

FAST FACTS

Route 101 is the busiest bus route in Connecticut, serving 1.1 million customers annually.

Buses travel more than 1 million miles on the CTfastrak guideway every year.

CTfastrak has provided 28.5 million passenger trips in the first ten years of operation. Those individuals collectively travelled 9.4 million miles—roughly 1/10 the distance from Earth to the Sun!
