Bus Riding Basics

New to CTtransit? Learn the basics of riding our buses with these simple steps

Plan Your Trip

Use CTtransit's Trip Planner to plan your trip, check schedules, and track arrivals. Heads-up: Times listed in the schedules are estimates. Weather or traffic might cause delays!

Bus Stops

Bus stops are located every 2-3 blocks along routes and are marked with official bus stop signs.

Identifying Your Bus

Make sure you have the right bus before boarding. Check the bus overhead sign for the route number and destination.

Signaling Your Stop

Attempt to make eye contact with the driver when you need to exit, and remember: do not cross in front of your bus.

Sit Back and Enjoy the Ride

CTtransit buses announce major stops aloud as they approach. Relax and enjoy the ride while staying aware of upcoming stops.

Request Your Stop

One block before your destination, pull the chord to request the operator to stop. You'll hear the announcement say “Stop Requested.”
